Clear Lake Clear Lake is a 3,684 acre natural lake, located on the southwest edge of Clear Lake in Cerro Gordo County. With a mean depth of 10 feet and a maximum depth of 19 feet, only trailer sailors should vist this lake. The earliest known-recorded mention of the body of water known as Clear Lake was a land survey of northern Iowa done in 1832, by land surveyor Nathan Boone, son of the famous explorer, Daniel Boone. There are two state parks around the lake, Clear Lake & McIntosh Woods State Parks. McIntosh Woods State Park is one of the major boating access points for Clear Lake. A modern boat ramp is present and an extensive paved area for vehicle and trailer parking.
