Rathbun Lake
The Army Corps of Engineer created this 11,000 acre reservoir, located in Appanoose County in 1964. Facilities include Honey Creek State Park, six Corps of Engineer campgrounds, two marinas and multiple boat ramps.
Rathbuh Lake is very popular with sailboaters, power boaters, water skiers and anglers
Sail boaters can find plenty of room to maneuver on Rathbun Lake’s nine-mile fetch of open water on the main body of the lake. The size of the lake combined with the prevailing winds make Rathbun Lake one of the best sailing lakes in Iowa.
There are two Marinas on the lake which provide fue,l mooring facilities and other supplies. Buck Creek Marina on the east end and South Fork on the west.
