Bull Shoals Lake Bull Shoals Lake located on the White River 10 miles west of Mountain Home. When construction began in June of 1947, Bull Shoals dam was the fifth largest concrete dam in the nation. The lake covers 45,000 acres with a 1,000-mile shoreline. Nineteen parks around the lake were developed through cooperative efforts of local, state and federal agencies for public use and enjoyment. They have camping and picnic facilities with tables, grills, drinking water, and rest rooms. Commercial docks on the lake have boats and motors for rent, supplies for sale, and guides for hire. The Corps of Engineers provides launching areas and ramps for those who bring their own boats. Water sports such as swimming and skiing are popular, as is cruising the hundreds of miles of lake arms and coves by motorboat or sailboat.
